    Induction bends are available in standard bend angles, such as 90°, 60°, 45° and 30°, or can be custom-made to specific angles. The welding ends of hot induction bends should be prepared in accordance with ASME B16.25. Examples of 3D, 5D, 6D, 7D, 8D and 9D induction bends with a centreline radius are:

API 5L ASME B16.49 Bend

The API 5L Carbon Steel Welded Bend is made of carbon steel, offering good hardness, strength and corrosion resistance. The bend allowance formula can be used to calculate the length of the bend. The bend allowance (BA) is equal to the angle multiplied by (π/180) multiplied by the radius plus the K-factor multiplied by the thickness.

The API 5L PSL1 Pipe Long Radius Hot Bend has a radius that is twice the outer diameter of the pipe. The bend must undergo testing to determine whether all the required characteristics are present. Destructive testing methods destroy the original piece of metal submitted to the test. However, the non-destructive testing method for the API 5L Short Radius Bend leaves the bend intact after testing. A hydrostatic test ensures that the pipe does not leak through the body or the seam of the weld.

The High Yield CS API 5L 90 Degree Bend is tested using a bending test. During the test, the weld should not open, nor should any cracks occur. The bending formula produces the bend allowance (BA) for any given bend, such as the API 5L PSL2 J pipe bend. BA = angle × (π/180) × (radius + K-factor × thickness).
