Stub End Types

1. Type A stub end: Used with lap joint flanges The lap thickness on the stub end is greater than or equal to the nominal thickness of pipe’s. Lap Joint Stub End usually has a machined serrated face.
2. Type B stub end: Used with slip on flanges. The inner corner is square. It also has a machined serrated face.
3. C Type : Used for both lap joint flanges and slip on flanges. Its thickness is 75% of the pipe wall. Type C stub end is very short to accommodate backup flanges

Type A, B and C stub end all have short pattern and long pattern, the differences between short pattern stub ends and long pattern stub ends are

• Short pattern: MSS-A stub end.
• Long pattern stub end: ASA-A stub end or ANSI length stub end.
