Saudi Arabia officially launched its first-ever Saudi Water Week in Jeddah on June 28, 2026 — a five-day event drawing broad participation from local, regional, and international communities.
The event aims to advance the kingdom’s water sector development, foster international cooperation, drive innovation, and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s role in global water security and sustainability. It features two major gatherings: the 7th Arab Water Forum and the second stakeholder consultation meeting of the 11th World Water Forum, bringing together policymakers, industry experts, government agencies, private-sector representatives, and research institutions.
An accompanying exhibition showcases cutting-edge technologies and smart solutions across water resource management, desalination, water reuse, and digitalization.
Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley highlighted that the kingdom has pursued a gradual and integrated reform approach to address water challenges. Under Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Water Strategy, the sector has undergone comprehensive transformation over the past decade — non-renewable groundwater consumption has dropped from approximately 21 billion cubic meters in 2016 to nearly 11 billion cubic meters in 2025, while desalinated water production capacity has grown from 9 million to 16 million cubic meters per day.

On the investment front, improved partnership models and regulatory frameworks have attracted over 60 billion Saudi riyals (approximately USD 16 billion) into the water sector, signaling strong long-term growth momentum.
